I got several new books for Christmas that I’m so excited about! For some reason, books tend to be something I always put on a “list” and never actually purchase for myself. So when Luke asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I made sure to include them on my list. He is also a big book lover, so I knew they would be gifts he’d be happy to give 🙂
I’m excited to start 2020 off with some good reading to help my mind and creativity grow and wanted to share!
When Less Becomes More by Emily Ley
I love Emily Ley’s books, and her overall perspective on life. So I knew I needed to get her new book ASAP! It’s all about slowing down and removing the stressors from life so that you can enjoy the good stuff…a message I’m sure most working moms can identify with!
Fraiche Food, Full Hearts by Jillian Harris and Tori Wesszer
I’m really looking forward to digging into this book and trying some of the recipes. Luke and I have been reading a lot about the benefits of a plant-based diet, and while I don’t think we’d ever go fully plant-based or vegan, we’re interested in incorporating more plant-based meals into our weekly routine. I love how Jillian and Tori organized this book with sample menus for various events/holidays, and how they’ve provided plant-based versions of common recipes and comfort foods so you don’t feel like you’re missing out!
Happy Hand Lettering by Maghon Taylor
This one is a real wild card for me. I’ve never considered myself an artist or true creative, and I definitely don’t have a creative profession, but I always have this nagging feeling that I need a creative outlet. It’s tough when you’re a full-time working mom to pick up a hobby that requires actual commitment, because time is so limited, but the idea of learning how to write “pretty” was appealing to me. It seemed like it would be a little creative outlet and somewhat therapeutic…like fancy doodling. I’ve already read through it and started practicing and am really enjoying it!
Happy Reading!
